3 x Armand Rousseau Gevrey Chambertin 1er Cru Clos St Jacques 1983
£2,500 per bt In Bond
92/100 Allen Meadows:'Stunningly complex nose of sous bois, rose petals and earth with rich, velvety, deep Gevrey flavors of stunning length and a certain distinctive classiness. The '83 Clos St. Jacques is completely rot free and utterly delicious in its flavor delivery. The structure is fully resolved and this is as good as it's going to get and should be consumed relatively soon.'

3 x Armand Rousseau Gevrey Chambertin 1er Cru Clos St Jacques 1985
£3,300 per bt In Bond
97/100 Neal Martin:'Many years ago I bought two or three bottles of the 1985 Gevrey-Chambertin Clos Saint-Jacques 1er Cru for a price that now begs belief. All of them were poured for two people: my wife and I. This last bottle is sublime. That same old spellbinding nose that envelops the senses, quite lush in keeping with the vintages, beautifully defined with traces of hung game creeping in. There is great tannic structure here, again, just a little gaminess towards the finish, but so elegant and refined that you instantly fall for its charms. Tasted at home in Guildford.'

2 x Domaine de Montille Volnay 1er Cru Les Taillepieds 1985
£375 per bt In Bond
91/100 Allen Meadows:'Remarkably fresh fruit that seems stuck in a time warp as it could easily pass for a much younger wine, especially on the nose. Still structured if not hard with medium weight, nicely rich, quite precise flavors and with air, this could be approachable now but will be much better over the next 10 years.'

3 x Dujac Clos de la Roche 1990
£4,500 per bt In Bond
97/100 Allen Meadows:'All but bricked through. I've experienced more than a little bottle variation with this wine as some are quite aromatically advanced with noticeable secondary notes and even a trace of sous-bois that leads to rich, full and sweet, moderately complex flavors carrying some slightly astringent tannins on the long finish. However, the best bottles are absolutely stunning with soaring and fully-mature kaleidoscopically complex aromatics that display no trace of over ripe or post mature notes as they complement to perfection the wonderfully rich, seductively sweet and powerful broad-shouldered flavors that retain a fine sense of elegance while delivering excellent finishing punch and persistence. As noted, while I have certainly experienced some bottle variation, at its finest this is nothing short of brilliant and note that if well-stored the '90 Clos de la Roche is a wine that should continue to deliver stunningly good drinking for years to come. My scores have ranged between 93 and 97.'

2 x Dujac Clos de la Roche 1991
£3,500 per bt In Bond
94/100 John Gilman:'For drinking at the present time, the 1991 Dujac Clos de la Roche is certainly one of the most charming and complete wines in this superb lineup. The wine is now at its absolute apogee, delivering a great and complex aromatic constellation of red and black cherries, cocoa powder, gamebirds, again, that signature, complex base of soil tones, a touch of nuttiness and a gentle base of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, complex and utterly seamless, with a velvety palate impression, great focus and grip and a very, very long, refined and utterly classic finish. A stunning bottle for current drinking.'

2 x Pousse d'Or Volnay 1er Cru Clos de la Bousse d'Or 1993
£700 per bt Duty Paid
90/100 Neal Martin:'The 1993 Volnay La Bousse d'Or 1er Cru has a fragrant and almost Pomerol-like bouquet with scents of lavender, iris and damp moss that tincture the dark berry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied and slightly tart, a splash of iodine infusing the black fruit, quite focused but not a deep Volnay. This loses a little precision towards the "furry" finish but otherwise this is drinking nicely. Tasted in Burgundy at a private dinner.'

3 x Pousse d'Or Volnay 1er Cru Les Caillerets Clos des 60 Ouvrees 1993
£700 per bt In Bond
93/100 Jasper Morris:'At 25 years old, the Clos des 60 Ouvrées 1993 still has a good bright colour, though browning a touch at the rim. The bouquet suggests a lighter wine than some, and the aromatics display a greener edge – but this may be from the inclusion of some stems because the fractionally herbaceous note very soon harmonises to deliver a sensual accord with a delicious fresh appeal. Perhaps not for everybody, but to my palate this is a delicious wine which is probably at its peak.'

1 x Robert Groffier Bonnes Mares 1978
£1,500 per bt In Bond
95/100 Jasper Morris:'Pale amber with some herbaceous Jerusalem artichoke notes on the nose, lean but still lively. The nose is not as pure as the 1985 but full of character nonetheless. Bell peppers too, but surrounded in a luscious sweetness of gentle red fruit. This is a wine which includes things in rather than cutting back to the essentials. I was distracted briefly by being dragged off to meet former F1 and Le Mans star Jacky Ickx at another table, but came back to find the wine had cleaned up beautifully, offering a succulent gentle but refined red fruit and exceptional length. The reputation of 1978 rests fully intact judging by this wine.'
