Domaine Les Astrelles Gevrey Chambertin "En Pallud" 2022
Tasting Note
'This lieu à dit lies very close to the center of the village, with the premier cru of les Corbeaux right above it on the slope and the premier cru of la Perrière just to its south. Domaine Les Astrelles both leases land in this vineyard, as well as purchasing additional grapes to augment the parcel they farm. Thus, the vines going into this bottling range from forty to fully ninety years of age. The wine is aged for thirteen months in cask, with thirty percent of the barrels being new oak for the 2022 En Pallud. The complex bouquet is deep and nicely black fruity in personality, wafting from the glass in a mix of dark berries, black cherries, espresso, roasted game, dark soil tones, a hint of Mazis-Chambertin vegetality, bonfire and a suave framing of cedary new oak. On the palate the wine is complex, full-bodied and precise, with excellent depth of old vine fruit at the core, superb soil signature and grip, ripe, well-integrated tannins and a very long, impeccably balanced finish. This wine has excellent backend lift. It is premier cru quality without a doubt.'
