Arlaud Clos St Denis 2008
Tasting Note
'Of the two Arlaud grand crus shown from the 2008 vintage at this tasting, I had a pretty strong preference for the Clos St. Denis, as it was raised in only sixty percent new oak, rather than the eighty percent of the Bonnes-Mares. As a result, the wine showed more freshness and soil tones in its aromatic mélange of plums, cherries, orange zest, gamebirds, coffee, mustard seed, woodsmoke and spicy new wood. On the palate the wine is medium-full, deep and intensely flavored, with a lovely core of sappy fruit, fine focus and balance, fine-grained tannins and excellent length and grip. A classic bottle of Clos St. Denis.'
