Tasting Note
'The 2005 Bonnes Mares still displays an exceptionally dense black colour. This immense vintage remains monolithic at nearly twenty years of age. The bouquet is stern with darkening fruit, and the framework remains tannic. This is going to take a long time, but will it eventually get there. The proof lies in how the wine developed in the glass over the next couple of hours. Prognosis: the essential austerity remains, but now, at last, real flavours begin to emerge from the block. Right at the end of the meal the 2005 had developed a hauntingly ethereal bouquet to confirm the absolute majesty of this wine – if one has the patience!'
