Joseph Drouhin Echezeaux 1969
Tasting Note
'The 2014 Grands Echézeaux had been bottled in mid-August of 2015 and was still in a grumpy mood post-bottling. The bouquet offers up some lovely elements in its mélange of red and black cherries, woodsmoke, gamebird, cocoa, fresh herb tones and spicy new wood. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, long and primary, with a fine core, ripe tannins and very good length and grip on the well-balanced finish. Today, this wine is more settled in on the palate than it is on the nose, which is still a bit all over the place after its mise, but the constituent components are all in place here for a lovely wine with sufficient cellaring.'
