Tasting Note

'Pousse d’Or’s 1985s are some of the high water marks in the Cote de Beaune in this vintage, and they have been stunning to drink for well over a decade. The 60 Ouvrees remains stunning, delivering a potpourri of berries, plums, woodsmoke, sous bois, minerals and cedary wood. On the palate the wine is deep, fullish and tangy, with stunning acidity for this rather soft vintage. The finish is long, complex and palate-staining, offering up wonderful flavors in a snappy, brilliant finish. This is as compelling an argument as any why Volnay is one of the superstar villages of the Cote d’Or. Great juice with years and years of life ahead of it.'
