Bryan Deleu St Joseph Litote Blanc 2022 (OCC/6)
Tasting Note
'I last tasted a bottle of the 2022 Saint-Joseph Blanc “Litote” from Bryan Deleu last fall. As I noted then, it is made entirely from Roussanne, with the vines still only six years of age, but densely-planted on a steep granite hillside. The wine sees no new oak during its élevage in larger casks. A year in bottle has really allowed this lovely Saint-Joseph Blanc to open up on both the nose and palate, as the bouquet now delivers a vibrant and complex bouquet of nectarine, fresh apricot, a lovely base of stony soil tones, almond, gently musky floral tones and a lovely touch of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is crisp, full-bodied and complex, with a fine core of ripe fruit, good soil undertow, lovely focus and balance and a long, classy finish. This tips the scales at 13.5 percent octane and has a lovely spine of acidity from the drought conditions of 2022. It is drinking very well indeed today, but will age quite gracefully as well. 2025-2040.'
