Duroche Gevrey Chambertin 1er Cru Lavaut St. Jacques Cuvee Vieilles Vignes 2021
Tasting Note
'One barrel, and not a new one (they are only used for Bourgogne Rouge and Gevrey-Chambertin). A richer deeper purple. When you smell this you understand why it is served after the Charmes-Chambertin, being both denser and fresher. There is significant punch to the old vine Lavaut St-Jacques, a layer of rich velvet overlying the bone structure, significantly ahead of the regular bottling. Beautiful mineral intensity as well. Pierre thinks this reminds him of the 2016, including in intensity.'
