Tasting Note

'The 2010 Culs de Beaujeu here shows that it hails from a very ripe vintage, as there is a bit of residual sweetness still in evidence on the palate and a bit of background heat on the finish. I suspect that both of these characteristics will fade a bit over time. The bouquet is really very lovely already, offering up scents of yellow fruit, beeswax, cut grass, tangerine, chalky minerality, anise and a topnote of freshly-culled tarragon. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, crisp and complex, with a plump core, fine underlying soil signature and very good length and grip on the focused finish. To my palate, the residual sugar here is still too pronounced for current drinking and I would opt for burying bottles for another five to ten years in the cellar before revisiting this wine, just so some of that the perception of residual sweetness can fade a bit with bottle age. It will be a very tasty wine in the fullness of time.'
