Gilles Barge Cote Rotie Le Combard 2008 (OCC/6)
Tasting Note
'Bright red. Redcurrant, tobacco, spices and smoked meat on the nose, with nuances of cracked pepper and violet. Spicy and intense, with delineated red fruit flavors and slow-building spiciness. Finishes with refreshing minerality and a strong echo of violet. An attractive, sexy wine that will drink well young. This is a new wine for Barge, from a site on the Tupin-Semons/Ampuis border, in the Cote Blonde, that had lain fallow for almost 200 years. Barge replanted it to syrah in 2000 and the first vintage bottled was the 2007.'
