'The 2020 vintage will be remembered for the scorching hot second half of summer, but it also benefitted from underground water reserves left over from the spring months and from the previous year; so, there was no heat stress, Carlotta Rinaldi tells me. The Giuseppe Rinaldi 2020 Barolo Brunate is structured and expressive with dark fruit, camphor ash and pressed violets. In 2020, fermentation times were fast, finishing within a week, with 15 to 20 days of extended maceration. The cap is managed by two delicate pump-overs per day and one punch-down.'
