Pierre Gonon St Joseph 2022
Tasting Note
'full red robe. The bouquet has a broad sweep aroma, an air of raspberry coulis, has nice emphasis, a little spice seasoning, and a definite iron-blood presence. The palate hits its stride well, has an intricate and interesting weave, mulberry fruit, chalked tannins that rule the roost on the final stages. It’s a wine with fluid tendencies, but isn’t there yet, with arranging of its tannin crispness to achieve. It shows a root depth towards the finish, reaches down into the soils, is STGT wine, the aftertaste finely rocky with a hint of rose, variety there. It’s not a flatterer at all. “It was fluid at the time of blending; now with the cold weather and the stainless steel, it’s showing its true nature, and is more serious, a bit like 2020,” Jean Gonon.'
